Getting Started

Welcome to Silkscreen! This guide will help you set up and start organizing your screenshots in minutes.

Silkscreen is available for both iPhone and Mac. While each app works independently, they're even better together - enabling instant screenshot sync between your devices.

Quick Start

  1. Download Silkscreen from the App Store (iPhone) or Mac App Store
  2. Open the app and sign in with your account (or create one)
  3. Create your first folder to start organizing
  4. Take a screenshot and assign it to a folder

Installation

iPhone

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone
  2. Search for "Silkscreen"
  3. Tap "Get" to download and install
  4. Open Silkscreen and follow the setup prompts

Mac

  1. Open the Mac App Store
  2. Search for "Silkscreen"
  3. Click "Get" to download and install
  4. Open Silkscreen from your Applications folder
  5. Grant the necessary permissions when prompted

Silkscreen requires certain permissions to function properly:

Creating Folders

Folders are the foundation of your screenshot organization. Create as many as you need to categorize your captures.

On iPhone

  1. Open Silkscreen and go to the Folders tab
  2. Tap the + button in the top right
  3. Enter a name for your folder
  4. Optionally choose a color or icon
  5. Tap "Create" to save

On Mac

  1. Open Silkscreen
  2. Click "New Folder" in the sidebar or press Cmd + N
  3. Enter a name and press Return

Organizing Screenshots

Instant Organization (iPhone)

When you take a screenshot on iPhone, Silkscreen can prompt you to organize it immediately:

  1. Take a screenshot as usual (Side button + Volume Up)
  2. The Silkscreen quick action appears in the corner
  3. Tap it to see your folders
  4. Select a folder to save, or tap "Later" to organize later

Bulk Organization

Have existing screenshots to organize? Use bulk selection:

  1. Go to the "Unsorted" view
  2. Tap "Select" (iPhone) or hold Cmd and click (Mac)
  3. Select multiple screenshots
  4. Choose a destination folder from the action menu

Drag and Drop (Mac)

On Mac, simply drag screenshots between folders in the sidebar. You can also drag screenshots directly from Finder into Silkscreen.

Setting Up Sync

Sync your screenshots instantly between iPhone and Mac. Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network.

Initial Setup

  1. Sign in with the same account on both devices
  2. Ensure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network
  3. On Mac, go to Preferences → Sync and enable "Receive from iPhone"
  4. On iPhone, go to Settings → Sync and enable "Send to Mac"

Pairing Devices

The first time you sync, you'll need to pair your devices:

  1. On Mac, click "Pair New Device" in Preferences → Sync
  2. A 6-digit code will appear
  3. On iPhone, go to Settings → Sync → Pair with Mac
  4. Enter the code shown on your Mac
  5. Once paired, devices will automatically connect when on the same network
